Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control capabilities of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their car, start the motor, and even locate it with the smartphone app.
Place the fob's front up on an uncluttered surface. Find the button that will let it go. Place a coin in between the fob cover and the fob, then gently pull it up.
Locking the Doors
Volvo's remote keyfobs unlock your vehicle's doors, tailgate, and fuel filler flap at the push of one button. They also can switch on the ignition, trigger the alarm, and operate your sunroof if equipped. It's no longer necessary to search for your keys or lose access to your vehicle.
If you're a new Volvo model from our dealership, then you may be unaware of some of its key fob hidden features. One of these features is an unlocked/lock button that you can use in the event that your key fob battery dies.
To press the manual lock/unlock switch hold your key fob with the Volvo logo facing up. Find the black button which is situated near the edge of the key fob's body, and gently press it to unlock a cover that hides the manual key blade. You will require a flathead screwdriver, or a coin to flip the cover counterclockwise so that the arrow is aligned with "open."
The Engine is Ready to Start
Modern Volvo key fobs offer an ease of use and function that is unmatched by traditional manual keys. A key fob, just like any other battery-operated device will eventually lose its charge over time. If you notice that your key fob becomes less responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it could be time to replace the battery.
You can activate this feature using the key fob if your vehicle is equipped with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start. The vehicle will then heat or cool to the same temperature it was set to when parked, and it will run for up to 15 minutes.
Take off the back cover of the key fob using your fingernail. A button is located beneath the cover on an angle near the body's edge. Slide it downwards and to the right. The cover will then come open and slide off and reveal the manual key blade in! If you are unable to locate the button, check the now-revealed manual key access to find a lever or slot.
Closing the Windows
One of the nefarious features on Volvo key fobs is that you can close all windows in a matter of seconds by using them. This is a great feature when trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or just want to breathe fresh air while driving.
To unlock your Volvo do this, press and hold down the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower the windows as well as the sunroof, if there is one. Then, when you're done with the car you can shut the doors by pressing the lock button for four seconds.
You can also use your key fob to turn on your car's panic alarm. It will sound an intense, attention-grabbing roar that could frighten away thieves and allow you to return home safely after a long night out. This feature can be very useful when you live in a neighborhood that is prone to crime or wish to safeguard your family while they're away.
The opening of the Tailgate
Volvo's key fob comes with a variety of useful features. These are great when you're swamped with groceries or helping kids pack their sports equipment after a session.
If you have the Hands-Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) You can open it using the key fob. It is possible to open the liftgate by pressing the button and then close it with the same button.
When you're in the mood to start your car, use the key fob to press the START button (and don't worry about your battery dying or your car not starting because it has a backup key mechanical slot too). This is only one of the many helpful tricks for your brand new Volvo.

The Alarm is turned off
Modern key fobs are more useful than a traditional car key. But, they're not working perfectly for long, and their batteries eventually fail. If you're running out of time or don't want to visit an establishment to get your key fob reset, you can try to achieve it at home.
Lay out your keys as well as batteries and additional keys on a clean surface. Locate the small black button at the lower left corner of the key fob. slide it to the right. The cover will fall off, revealing the key blade that is mechanical underneath.
Press the key fob's unlock button two times quickly, and you should be able to open all the doors, as well as the tailgate. By pressing key fob volvo for 2 minutes, you are able to close the windows and the sunroof when they're equipped. Connect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't work, the owner's manual should have a way to reset the system.
